When your soup is too hot

When your soup is too hot to eat do you blow on it to cool it down before you put it in your mouth or do you wait for it to cool down for a couple of minutes and eat it normally?

Option number 3 that is not mentioned: You eat it regardless of temperature risking scalding your mouth.



For some reason when people blow on their soup it kind of annoys me so I don't do that.

Why would it annoy you?

Because I can hear them blowing and it's annoying.

I tend to risk getting my mouth burned most of the time. If the soup is far too hot then I'll wait for it to cool down.

option 4: i used to put ice cubes in my soup if it was too hot

I do a mix of options one and three, for the most part.

This reminds me of a week or two ago when I was with some friends at a restaurant, and one of them was complaining that his food was too hot. I told him to blow on it, and he did for a very short time. Later on he complained to another one of us that his food was hot, and he told him to blow on it as well I'm not sure what the problem was with blowing on it.

What if it was a creamy soup not a stock or water based soup?

oh. i ate a lot of ramen noodles when i was little. that's what i was going off of.


okay, so i'd wait till it cooled off a bit.

When I eat Ramen I eat the noodles first then the broth later so by that time it's cooled off.

Unless you go to a real ramen place then you gotta eat it all together.

I guess I usually eat the noodles in ramen soup first, then drink the broth afterwards. Or whatever broth is left that didn't soak into the noodles/get caught in my spoon (if I was eating with a spoon ).

now, when i make ramen, i don't keep much broth in it at all and just eat the noodles, pretty much.

I don't think I even heard of Ramen until I was like 13. :p

So do you get the stuff in the cups or the stuff in the packages you cook up?

I like the stuff in the cups because it has chunks of food in it. Also I don't have to dirty pans when I make it.

haha my poor college friends taught me the wonder of cooking it in a bowl in the microwave. no pans dirtied. haha

I like to boil the water on a stove, I don't like to cook it in the microwave.
Gotta have some standards you know?

Plus if you get it in a cup you don't dirty a bowl.

My sister and I had ramen noodles all the time because that was one of the main things my dad would cook for us.

I'm saying I have my own standards of making things that need hot water. If I make oatmeal, or ramen I boil the water in a pot, then pour it in. Some people do it all in the microwave and I'm not a fan of that.

Also related but nothing I've done is you can superheat the water and have it explode on you.

But back to the ramen, if it's the kind in the packages cooking it stovetop you can control the creamyness level, something you can't do in the microwave.

Also, you don't have to waste a bowl if you eat straight out of the pot.
