i sort of feel that way about the south, in general. that's why i want to get the hell out.

I'm glad that they finally had... an integrated prom. It's about time.




I feel sort of weird referring to it as "integrated", because living in Southern California, I've never heard of any prom or school function which was limited to students of a certain race. I didn't even know until this article that proms in Mississippi were still separated.

It's only one town. Not Mississippi.

Oh, alright then. That's still pretty bad that it was like that for this long, though. Are there other towns with separated school dances like that?

i was in cotillion in highschool, a club that had 2 dances a year, and it was whites only.

i hate cotillion, by the way.

IAmHeavenSent, you really seem to dislike where you live I've never gone further east than New Mexico, but I wonder what sort of stuff I'd run into elsewhere in the US.

you can call me Shea if you remember it--much easier to type. i do dislike it a lot. i've never been more north than virginia or more west than texas. it's all mostly the same, though i do prefer the eastern coast of the south (GA, VA, the carolinas, etc.) more.

a friend of mine are thinking of going to st. louis this summer. and we have plans to get to NYC some day.

well, i'm not typically a fortunate person, so i have not.

Shea, that's too bad I have yet to go into Texas and beyond, although I'd like to visit New York someday as well.
