Going to see Dave Chappelle tonight

I've been meaning to re-watch Chappelle's Show lately, I should get on that soon.

What I've seen of his stand up since Chappelle's Show I didn't like too much. It's a shame though because I love some of the older specials he did. Maybe he's back on his game now.

Maybe he'll pull a Charlie Sheen.

Going to see comedians live is usually a huge waste of money.

He will make a ton of white people jokes and they will laugh if i was going id bring a noose just to see what he says.

I would disagree, at least most of the time. I haven't been to tons of comedy shows, at least nothing relatively near to the amount of music concerts I've been to, but I've rarely been disappointed. It comes down to seeing who you know you like and if the other comedians on the bill are any good. The only greater variable is the audience is usually much more capable of ruining a show when compared to seeing bands. Comedians, from what I've seen and heard, are much more likely to be annoyed and just say fuck you and either let their act completely derail or even walk off stage. Chappelle himself is kinda known for this since leaving Chappelle's show, since he just gets hecklers either requesting Chappelle's show material or asking/berating him about walking away from the show, going crazy, etc.. I've been to this venue several times, and this is the most strict they've ever been. They demanded at the door that cell phones be turned completely off for the entire show, and said that if your cell phone light is seen, even if you aren't talking, that you would be escorted out on the spot. And it definitely happened to a few people. They said heckling would not be tolerated, and there wasn't really heckling going on, but there were a few audience members that took the whole "Are you married? How old are you? Where do you work?" basic questions from Dave as like their privilege to carry on a lengthy and inappropriate conversation with him instead of just giving him a jumping point for whatever material he had coming next. But even that was ok because Dave was insistent about making it clear that they weren't a bother to him so as to not get more people kicked out, and he of course brought the good-spirited funny when these goofballs thought that Dave wanted to hear their life stories lol.

So yeah, the show was great. I was reading some reviews and saw a lot of angry and let down people from earlier shows (he was just in San Francisco a week ago), and I understood it as people literally expecting Chappelle's show material or more of the same from Killin Them Softly and his other big specials (sugar-water-purple, etc.). His demeanor was pretty subdued and sarcastic, but I still found it to be the same comedian, but at a different point in his life. He even commented that being funny and finding humor in others has become tiresome, which I understood but I'm not sure if many others did. He definitely had a lack of what you would call jokes, if you know what I mean. It wasn't your standard "premise-action-punchline" like people come to expect. It was a lot of him just kinda being conversational, but funny--making observations, waxing philosophic, that kind of thing. I found it very enjoyable and still plenty funny.

The bad news: my fucking car was broken in to. Broke my rear passenger window. And for what? To steal my friend's backpack in the back seat that contained a change of clothes and not much else lol. Everything else was left untouched.

Must've been a bum needing a change of clothes, it happens.

He had a show in Detroit a couple weeks ago. Bombed, sucked, etc. People booed him off the stage. He said sorry dude I already got your money. That's a pretty bi-winning thing to do IMO.

To actually "hate" Dave Chappelle, you have to be one or more of the following: racist, stupid, or anti-popular. Seriously. There's no other explanation.

I've seen a couple skits from Chappelle's show, but I've never really sat down to watch it for any real period of time.

I think his stand-up is better than his show.

He's not funny, at all. He plays his stupid, boring, "I'm black and white people are racist" card like it's 1963. He's not intelligent, nor are his skits, nor is anything he attempts to do. BLOCK PARTY was a fucking disaster of a film, and so is his pathetic show.

Fuck Chappelle.
