I'm enjoying myself today.

I'm in a bit of a bind.

I'm now six weeks out of the job, and have found nothing for even a shit temporary job. Not one interview or callback or e-mail, even, and I've sent out about twenty apps/resumes since early July, not to mention the twenty more I sent out while I still had my job. Nobody even wants to talk to me about hiring me to flip burgers part time, fer chrissakes.

I've taken the assessment test at my local community college and was placed in my respective math class, intermediate algebra (hey, I haven't had a real math class since junior year of high school...seven years ago, so lay off). I don't know what I really want to do, but excelling in math and science classes will open up a lot of doors for me, but I know it means A LOT more school. I'm almost 24, already have a degree and a mountain of student loans, so another four or six years of school is scary. But really, in this economy, just saying fuck it and going to school, living off of more loans actually makes sense.

But, my dad is telling me that I could get hired on pretty easy at his car dealership as a salesperson. There are many problems there as well, though. Firstly, I know shitdick about cars and have never been much of a salesman about anything. that, and it's in a town almost 20 miles away, so I'd definitely have to buy a car, which just means my savings is wiped out again and I'll probably be sacrificing a good portion of my check to the remaining payments for the car, not to mention gas and insurance (though, I already pay for those, but the insurance part will likely increase). Plus, it's basically an unwritten rule that if you don't sell a car your first week, you're fired. That'd be great. I already can't get a job in the first place, and then I could potentially also have an involuntary termination on my record. And on top of all of that, it's a full-full-time job. My dad consistently works 10-14 hour days and has 80-hour weeks. Good for making money I guess, but not good for trying to go back to school.

Yeah... that's a hell of a situation. Think he could help you make a sale in the first week so you aren't fired?

Possibly. Another thing I'm scared about is doing well enough to make good money, and just saying fuck school. I'm pretty sure I don't want to do that, because even though my dad does fairly well he still hates it. He just does it because he can't get anything better.

Well, that's more of a personal thing. If you can make good money, you've got to take it upon yourself to make a better life for yourself by going to school and getting a better job with more money. It's good to go for the sure thing... but continue trying to get something better. Yeah... just... don't be a lazy ass and remember that you're only doing that to make back your money and go through school.

in the current economy, going to school is really one of the best things to do.

I need a part time job. Even though uni is pretty much like a full time job I need some cash.
