stupid short stories, some novel called That Night which was THE most boring, pointless thing i've ever read--seriously. a lot of american writers that aren't good, etc. etc.

yeah, it's way better, though I think I know the book The Night. Never read it, just know of it.

it was by alice mcdermott or something (an author my teacher really liked apparently)... i suppose some people like it but i really hated it. every other page talked about the same shit (what went down 'that night') and i just didn't care about the characters or anything about it

Actually, what I was thinking of was Night by Elie Wiesel.

It's about something in WW2, I can't remember at the moment. Wiesel actually survived the holocaust

oh okay. still sounds interesting to me. i read the hiding place by corrie ten boom (or whatever it was) and her optimism got to me a bit, but it was really good, i thought.

I might be wrong, I can't remember, but for some reason I think that's what it's about.

it's her (a bit of her family's) personal experiences during the holocaust... the hiding place refers to the part of their house in which they hid jews.
