awkward. i've been asked to sing at my father's wedding.

What shall you be singing?

I don't see how it's awkward unless you hate your dad and haven't talked to him in 50 years.

Well, I do hate him (actually I'm not a fan of the word hate.... but I think he's the person on Earth I dislike the most). I wish I hadn't talked to him in 50 years.
He screwed up my mom and brother and me--extreme emotional/mental abuse. Mom died, and he's engaged about 9 months later. I do like the lady, but still... there's a lot of resentment there.

I don't mind doing it for her, but I hate the idea of doing it for him.
I mean, come on. I'll be singing this mushy love song about "there is a place for us somewhere...etc." .... it's just weird.



anyway, she requested the song "Somewhere" from West Side Story... which I don't know. haha

Comfort in reminding him that he won't have to choose between your mom and the new woman when he gets to heaven... because he won't be there. After you finish the song.

Maybe you could compromise if he gives you his forgiveness. I wouldn't think it would be wrong to say no to that. Thats like if you were a jew and Hitler asked to sing at mass grave.

But wouldn't the Jew want to sing there? You know... to honor his fallen... Jews?

It's a treat for girls to talk to guys, it's like we did something right!

I wish that girl had approached me and talked to me. Would have made my day, for sure.

Yeaaaah. I always think of something like this after the fact. I always say I should have said this or that, then kick myself that I didn't. Even if nothing would have come of it who knows. But as my dad says, "If you shoulda, woulda, coulda you just got shit on."
