So... occassionally I have little chats with people about my person beliefs relating to people, the world, religion, and whatever else. One day, I really thought about the things I say. And I thought it seemed pretty nihilistic. Even on facebook, someone I knew from college commented about how nihilistic something I wrote was. Tonight I decided to just read through the nihilism page on wikipedia (whether you think it's reliable or not, it's always fun to just browse articles and read) to find out more about it. I have come to the conclusion that in I am, in essence, and existential nihilist. Not sure if my beliefs fit in with other forms of nihilism, though.

What's the point of these labels anyway? Do they really define us better or is it just shit people like to throw around to make themselves seem cool? Anytime I hear someone mention the term "existential" it's some wannabe artsy fag I want to punch in the fucking face.

Life only has the meaning and values that we place in it. We're all pretty much a blank slate until we start filling it in.

Nihilism's more of a bullshit term than existentialism...nihilism is something where mere semantics is all that is needed to disprove it, seeing as how it is an all-or-none defining term. Existentialism by definition deals with interpretation and limitlessness, or infinite possibility, and therefore isn't a discretely idealistic notion of the complete and utter absence of something that is more or less impossible.

(last sentence contains an existential joke, by the way).
