Correct. There was two, i don't know if the reason was that one ruled over Laconia and the other over Messene or that two was needed incase one died in war.

in music time signatures, such as 4/4, 2/4, or 3/4, what do the top and bottom numbers represent?

My theory side of music sucks. Top number is how many beats are in the bar? and the bottom number is the length of an average bar?

the top number does represent how many beats are in a measure

i'm fairly sure your description of the bottom number can't be construed as what it is.

My music teacher teaches us poorly about the theory side of music. She fails at the practical side aswell but i can teach myself that part. Is the bottom number representing a particular type of beat. 4 is a crotchet beat and so forth? If i'm wrong this time then i'm out for this round.
