that sounds closer. the fact that you use different terms than I'm familiar with makes it a bit harder. I'll just tell you how I'd describe it. if it's what you meant, then you get it. if not, I'll just post a new question.

I've always said that for 4/4 "top note says that there are 4 beats in a measure, the bottom tells that a quarter note is the beat"
a 2 on the bottom would mean that the beat is the length of a half note. an 8 would mean an 8th note is the beat, etc..

if i knew what a crotchet beat was, it would help. hahaha

I love history but i have never studied American presidents before. My knowledge of politics is very small.
