What video games are you guys playing nowadays?

I'll get on my Nintendo systems to add you tomorrow, tonight I'm running back out for drinks so can't really.

BTW, I'm hearing awesome things about the MH4U demo, especially that the Bow works differently now (aka, it's playable without using both hands on the right side of the controller/console which was absolutely stupid). I really want to give it and the new weapons a shot, though I'd wish they'd have added the Tonfa's just to give us a trial of the next game to come out 5 years down the road.

i was gonna pre-order the CE MH 4 gaem, but it is sold out everywhere. Can someone tell me why game companies can't meet the demand for this shit when the pre-order system is in place? I'll be buying the game day 1 regardless, but I'm a little disappointed.

Scalpers are buying them in large amounts and reselling them on amazon for inflated prices.

Best Buy decided to crack down and cancel all orders that ordered more than one so maybe try there.

I found out that RetroArch on Ouya has a damn stable PlayStation emulator, so last night I downloaded a shitload of games I've always wanted to play but were imports or too expensive to buy used. I hear Skullmonkeys is good, hope to give that a spin; Powerslave as well, and if I like that, I'll track down the Saturn version (supposedly all three versions—PC, PSX, and Saturn—are all wildly different).

Just gotta fiddle around to get my DualShock 3 synced because my Ouya D-pad is all borked. The controller sucks for everything.

I got my first several "character" endings in Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward

This game fixed everything that was wrong with 999.  Now you can actually keep track of what "timelines" you've encountered, and you can jump to any major decision in the game at any point when doing the New Game+ playthroughs (I think the developers must of played Radiant Historia).  No more having to solve the same damn puzzles over and over again, and then speed through the entire game just to get to a different dialogue tree that may or may not go anywhere.

I'll keep my eye out, but I have an employee discount with Amazon and I also have a 25$ gift card through Amazon. I do have a problem with purchasing CEs/LEs with most games so maybe it's for the best that I go for the normal copy.

Also I have 999, but not the sequel. Somehow got one of the wrong endings which doesn't even allow me to even get the trve ending on my second playthrough so I put it down. It is a pretty great VN though. Should I play 999 2 if I don't get the real ending in the original? I also hear the 3DS ver. is inferior to the vita ver. Should I hold off on buying it until I have a Vita or nah?

Well, not enough of the story has been revealed yet, so I don't know how much connection there is to 999 yet.  So far, no you would not need to have completed the first to enjoy the second.  

And I'm not sure about an ending that would end your game in 999.  I got every ending, and don't remember running into something like that. I do know that you had to get certain bad endings to unlock the ability to get the true one (you'll understand why at the end)

As far as PSP vs 3DS, all I know is that 3DS has a save corruption bug that can be encountered in the puzzle rooms.  I haven't seen it, and it's easy to avoid since you can treat the sleep mode as a save alternative.

Best Buy canceled my order for the New 3DS XL Majora's Mask edition.

I think I was following a walkthrough to try and get the true ending on the first playthrough and then it turned out you couldn't get the true ending until you take a different bad ending route and then replay the game. I think I got the "Coffin Ending". Also I forgot how insanely dark the game is. Some of the writing legitimately made me feel a little sick to my stomach.

ZE:VLR is the same way in that you have to get certain endings/events in order to progress other "playthroughs" of the game.  It's very well done, and 10x more effective than the fumbling in the dark in 999.  I haven't gotten to the twist that reveals why your character can do that, but I have my theories.


I also played some of Toys for SNES last night... and couldn't even beat the first level (I got really close on my 2nd try but died 95% of the way in and couldn't handle going through all of it again). That game is perfect AVGN fodder

Blowing through my first New Game+ of Devil Survivor Overclocked.  I think that game is neck-and-neck with Zelda:ALBW as my favorite 3DS game

I think having any sort of understanding of Japan's historical culture of the divine would probably make the casts of the SMT/Persona games make a lot more sense

I'm down to just a single unbeaten 3DS/DS game (Dragon Quest V), and since I played through three of those last year I figured I'd pick something else up to play. Had a hard time choosing a new title because there's so many awesome games out there for the platform... Soul Hackers, EO IV, SMT IV, Persona Q, Majora's Mask, Smash Bros., etc.

The New 3DS is tits. Loads everything so much quicker and the head-tracking 3D makes the 3D a lot more fun because there's very little chance of getting the effect out of sight and distorted.

No time yet to play any games on it lol but I had fun just testing it on a couple games.

Supposedly the graphics look better on it too.

So far, I'm not really a fan of Majora's Mask or Yoshi's New Island. Play A Link Between Worlds for a few minutes and it seems to have promise. I'd like to get further in Majora's Mask because it's supposed to be really good. Smash and Monster Hunter are awesome, though.

Played through Marvel Super Heroes War of the gems and then X-Men Mutant Apocalpyse


WotG seemed so much harder when I was a kid. I flew through the game as Iron Man (mostly), and really only had trouble with Thanos (spam the gem attacks when he's low on health), and the first few attempts on Black Heart.

X-Men was a little bit harder, but still fairly easy. Only Magneto gave me any real difficulty, but that was mostly because I reached the end of the game without any Wolverine lives and he seemed to be the only option to beat him.

I read a review of MH4U the other day that convinced me to bump it up my wishlist. The only other game in the series I had played was one of the PSP installments, which I completely did not "get".

Buy it, play with others, watch Gaijin Hunter's videos on YT, do many of the training quests to find which weapon type you like the most, accept that it isn't an easily accessible or easily mastered game, try to treat it like a more frustrating, less rpg-version of dark souls that can be played in smaller increments.

I had MH 1 on PS2 and definitely didn't know what I was doing. Got the MH3 Wii Demo at gamestop years ago and really enjoyed it. MH4 is even better. This game really does work best with two analog sticks so I'm kinda hating not having the new 3ds or the circle pad pro.
