What video games are you guys playing nowadays?

I'd love to be playing my new Wii U right now, but I'm one of those nerds who HAS to charge a battery to full power before using. Supposedly a full initial charge makes for longer battery life. Could be bull, but manuals always say to do it.

Think I'll head to bed; who knows how long this'll take. Then when I wake I'll wanna do all the Wii transfer stuff (did a BootMii NAND backup to restore everything to my Wii afterward), so it could be forever until I can finally play da noo Raymanz.

Also got a white Wii U Pro Controller at Best Buy on clearance for like $25. Pretty awesome bargain; wish there had been more; guess I'll just visit again and see if any is restocked.

Started playing Mortal Kombat.

I don't mind fighting games but they rarely hold my attention for long periods. I might start up something else whilst playing MK. May be Lollipop Chainsaw.

Is this MK 9 or the original MK?

The one on PS3. I'm assuming it is MK 9.

Surely you've played the first Mortal Kombat game and know the difference between the original and the newest one.

I know it isn't the first one but I don't know how many MK games there are overall. I think I only played the first two games and the sub-zero game.

Oh well, I'd love to see how it plays. The large touchpads ought to offer more precise control than a stick, but it looks like one hell of an adjustment.

I think that controller looks to have potential. I've never seen anything like it before, so I'm interested in trying it. Maybe I'll go ahead and sign up for the Steam beta

I think the picture that shows the keybindings is the best one, makes it seem interesting. Don't know how it will work for action games like Ninja Gaiden with lack of face buttons or it would be a game that you'd have to use the facebuttons without taking your fingers off one of the "analog sticks" though Ninja Gaiden isn't on there you know what i mean.

Well you can still use any other controller out there on Steam, and will be able to continue to do so in the future. I think this is a good thing; I'd rather have a controller that's specialized for genres that don't usually work well with traditional controllers, as opposed to a controller that tries to accommodate too many different types of games and fails. Either way, I want to try this controller myself before passing final judgment.

Back to nerd stuff.

I've been really marveling at how good Wii games look on the Wii U upscaled to 1080p through HDMI. Great colors, better clarity, looks super awesome.

Decided it was finally time I get Twilight Princess on the Wii. Avoided it all this time because it was originally made for GameCube and the mirroring sounded dumb and so did using the Wiimote, but I thought, "Hey! Widescreen and upscaled!"

Bought it, popped it in, and noticed things weren't as they should be. Put the GameCube version in the Wii and compared by switching inputs. After much comparing, looking closely at details and paying attention to outlines around models, I came to the FOREGONE CONCLUSION that the GameCube version in fact looks better. Upon stretching the GCN version to 16:9 and squashing the Wii one to 4:3, I noticed a similarity in overall visuals when both were viewed in the same aspect ratio (save for the Wii version having a wider field of view, of course), and figured that the Wii version is actually a 4:3 (640x480) resolution anamorphically stretched to 16:9.

So I wonder if it's not just laziness on the part of the developers but perhaps a hardware limitation of the Wii, and Google the SHIT out of that to find out that the Wii's max resolution is indeed 640x480 and all widescreen games are anamorphic and not "true 16:9" (that is, more pixels on either side).

Disappointing, especially since I just flushed $20 down the toilet to find this out. Shoulda just stuck with the GameCube game. Maybe I can take it back somehow even though it's open.

This game now has everything I ever wanted in it. Can't wait to play it on Wii U in the year 20,000,015 or whenever it comes out.

Although a supporting character like Beat would be pretty cool.

Return my PS3 day-one edition of Killer Is Dead before the 1st (the final day of return) for a refund, or hang on to it because I'm a Suda nut and just in case there ends up being some pros to the PS3 version and/or if a patch comes out for the game? (Since 360 versions never get patches it seems.)

Or mail it to a girl in Kentucky in exchange for titty pics?

360 versions do get patched; it's only Konami that has opted to patch the PS3 versions of games while ignoring the 360 versions. That also might change in the future, since Microsoft has reportedly relented on their exhorbitant patching fees.

Playing through Gears of War: Judgement.

Grand Theft Auto 5. It's pretty good. Probably the best since Vice City. Vice City is still better though. And the radio stations suck. I don't understand why they haven't had a good soundtrack since San Andreas, and that one was questionable. The jazz station in GTA 4 was a nice touch but I don't really want to listen to jazz while I'm bombing down the road at a million miles an hour all the while piling into crowds of minorities.

Aren't Ceremony and Black Flag on the latest GTA? Isn't FlyLo one of the radio personalities? I'm just tired of the GTA formula. You already know exactly what you're going to get. It's probably a fine game.

Picked up SMT IV again and the story is really starting to get good. This game really does a good job of showing you how morality isn't always black and white and that good intentions really can lead to the world ending.

I wish all GTA games could have a metal station on par with The Lost and Damned's.
